APOLOGIES ARE IN ORDER
by Veronica Chase
Apologies are in order
Yes, I've said this before
As each time I excuse myself
For not being able to make it
Can't even the score
As friends and loved ones wait around
For love and much and nothing more
The day begins with twenty-four hours
You'd think I can find four
To call and greet the family and friends I love
And even go to their door
But somehow time go fleeting by
As I quietly while the time away
Toiling in the garden of life
Sometimes, but not always for pay
The truth is, I've lost my balance
Somewhere along the way
My search for truth and happiness
Stretched far, and far away
So wrapped I was in things at hand
Always thinking, they'd understand
|
Not realizing they're on their way out
For to get my attention, they'd have to shout
I hear the shout, don't think I don't
But always I excuse
Just give me one more minute
I must just finish these
What these, these most seemingly important tasks
That occupy my time
That keeps me from the ones I love
With promise of a home above.
I now make no more apologies
I now just take what comes
For now I know what has already past
Is already said and done
I speak to those who may like me
Neglect to see what's theirs to be
To hope that from my example
They would achieve the final temple.
